There are a lot of tutorials available on the net on the topic of “photos that look like they’ve been pencil-sketched“. The instructions found on the theme Photo to Pencil Sketch by Tim Shelbourne is a good example. Although it moves more into the direction of “charcoal drawing”, it describes the technique in detail on over two pages.
